福岡県出身、東京育ち。ただいま海外放浪中。
初めてのオーストラリアにて、現金、パスポート、旅券等をきれいに盗難される。
日本へ何とか帰る為に、独学でディジュリドゥでのストリートパフォーマンスをオーストラリアはパースで開始。音楽を通して人と出会い、刺激をうけ成長していける環境に感動し、世界を音で旅するを目標に活動。2006年から、主にオーストラリア、ヨーロッパでバスキング活動。
偶然のような必然の中で、たくさんの人と出会う。世界で見たもの、聞いた音、体感したことを通してディジュに魂を込める。
2011年には関西は大阪で行われたディジュリドゥのイベント【KANSAI DIDJ FESTA 2011】での【フリースタイルディジュバトル】にて優勝するなど、口先ではない、腹から震わせるスタイルを目指して現在活動するなかで、ハンドパンにヨーロッパにて出会う。
スイスで、2000年に発明されたこの楽器をメロディーに、ディジュリドゥとの低音をミックスさせた音楽への方向性を定め、その後も、アメリカやヨーロッパ、インドやタイなど世界中を、自分の音楽を模索する旅を続ける。2012年、ビートボクサーReo Matsumotoとともに、ヨーロッパにて松本族を結成。過去二枚のフルアルバムを制作し、2023年現在も新たな音楽を創造、模索しつつ、海外の様々なフェスに出演し続けている。
Hailing from Fukuoka Prefecture but raised in Tokyo, Koji Matsumoto is currently a globetrotter. His journey to Australia took an unexpected turn with the loss of cash and passport. In a remarkable twist of fate, he taught himself to play the didgeridoo in Perth, Australia, as a means to find his way back to Japan.
Since 2006, Koji, an adventurous soul, has primarily sustained himself through busking in both Australia and Europe. His unique life experiences, shaped by what he has witnessed, heard, and felt around the world, finds expression in his passionate didgeridoo performances.
In 2011, a notable achievement came when he clinched the title at the 'Freestyle Didgeridoo Battle' during the KANSAI DIDJ FESTA 2011 in Osaka, Japan.
The year 2012 saw him embarking on a world-spanning journey, including the USA, Europe, India, and Thailand, in collaboration with beatboxer, Reo Matsumoto. Together, they formed the ‘Matsumoto Zoku’ duo in Europe, creating and performing music that has resulted in two full-length albums. Their musical exploration continues, and as of 2023, they're actively engaged in producing and performing at various international festivals.
